Saturday will be the last time Florida safety Marcus Maye suits up in The Swamp as Senior Day has arrived for the departing Gators.

The fifth-year senior remembers being motivated for his teammates at the start of his career.

“I mean, for me, it was just, it was something that I wanted to send the seniors out with a victory,” Maye said. “But just, being a senior now, I wanna go out with a victory.”

Maye said the seniors have accepted graduate transfer Austin Appleby, who will start at quarterback, as one of them.

“The relationships are great. You know, we got Bryan Cox, Appleby, Chris Thompson… we got a bunch of guys. Everybody has a great relationship with each other,” he said. “The seniors that we have, we do a lot for the team and, you know, the younger guys look up to us and stuff like that. So we try to do a great job of leading by example. Just being those seniors in that group has definitely been a great thing for this team.”

For more of Maye’s thoughts on his final home game, which happens to be against the head coach who recruited him, check out the above video shared by Florida’s official Twitter account.
