Video: MSU’s film study led to game-winning field goal block in bowl game

With 20 seconds left, Miami (Ohio) had the ball 1st-and-10 on the Mississippi State 17-yard line. Down 17-16, it looked like the RedHawks would win 19-17 with a field goal.
Bulldogs fans were likely bracing for the loss, but DT Nelson Adams knew MSU was going to block the kick and preserve the one-point win, as they were ready for Nick Dowd’s line-drive kick. Adams himself blocked the kick, and because of it, Mississippi State leaves the St. Petersburg Bowl as the victors.
Just as important in MSU’s win was a blocked extra point, as the teams would have been tied 17-17 if not for the earlier block in the second quarter.
