Strike the Heisman pose, Dede Westbrook.

The talented Oklahoma wide receiver put pressure on Clemson QB Deshaun Watson, Alabama QB Jalen Hurts and the other Heisman Trophy contenders who want to join Louisville QB Lamar Jackson at the Heisman ceremony in New York City.

On the first play of the second quarter in the de-facto Big 12 championship game between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, Sooner QB Baker Mayfield rolled right to escape pressure and fired a deep pass to Westbrook.

Westbrook made the catch, came to a full stop to juke a defender and then quickly got back to full speed to leave another Cowboy in his dust for the 69-yard touchdown.

Westbrook, a senior, now has 16 touchdown catches and nearly 1,500 receiving yards. He’ll certainly add on to those totals before today’s game is over.

Of course, Hurts and Watson play later today and will have a chance to cement their Heisman candidacy as well, but the early leader for Heisman play of the day goes to Westbrook.
