Video: Pitt kicker Chris Blewitt gets good-luck kiss from head coach, leads to upset of No. 2 Clemson
College football coaches often have to get creative in terms of coming up with motivation tactics.
In Pitt’s stunning 43-42 victory on the road against No. 2 Clemson, head coach Pat Narduzzi used some old-fashioned lovin’ as a means to help his kicker Chris Blewitt.
Earlier in the game, Blewitt had missed an extra point, and had a field goal blocked. Sensing his kicker was a bit rattled, Narduzzi went over and planted a few kisses on Blewitt’s face.
It made the kicker smile, and thus got him to relax.
Down two with less than ten seconds remaining, Blewitt came up and nailed a 48-yard field goal for the upset victory. It virtually killed Clemson’s playoff chances, and made Narduzzi a big fan-favorite in the process.
