The Head Ball Coach didn’t wait long to reach into his bag of tricks in the season opener.
On South Carolina’s second possession Thursday night against North Carolina, Spurrier called a fake punt on 4th-and-9 from the Gamecocks’ own 21-yard line and executed it to perfection as Sean Kelly scurried 17 yards for a first down.
The drive stalled five plays later, but kudos to Spurrier for trying to generate some offense in the first quarter.
