Steve Spurrier likes to “throw it around a little bit.”

The Head Ball Coach participated in an hour-long interview on Golf Channel’s “Feherty” before the start of the 2015 season, revealing how his reputation as an offensive juggernaut first began in the college ranks.

The former Heisman winner at Florida said defenses weren’t as complicated back then and quarterbacks were able to read coverages quickly without disguises from opposing coordinators.

“Best thing to happen to me was going to Duke University as an assistant coach in 1980 and the coach hired me as an offensive coordinator,” Spurrier said. “The head coach gave me the complete freedom to make up an offense. And through trial and error, we put in an audible system with this, that and the other.”
