Virginia Tech grounds crew thanks Vanderbilt for treatment of guest locker room
Vanderbilt overcame a sloppy start in Blacksburg to cruise to a 44-20 win over Virginia Tech on Saturday night, but despite being quite rude to their hosts on the field, the visitors were thoughtful off of it.
Hours after the game had concluded, the Virginia Tech grounds crew took to Twitter/X to thank the Commodores for leaving the visitors’ locker room in a pristine state. They posted a photo that showed a relatively spotless room with chairs stacked against the wall and the floor looking almost like it was vacuumed.
Clark Lea‘s team was likely more than happy to be cleanly after they took the Hokies to the woodshed for an evening. A pair of early Diego Pavia interceptions allowed VT to claim a 20-10 halftime lead, but that advantage quickly disappeared.
A sputtering Virginia Tech offense allowed Vandy to mount a rally, and Pavia & Co. caught fire down the stretch to surge to a 24-point win. The visitors out-gained the home side by over 200 yards and scored the final 24 points of the game.
The result furthers the rumblings surrounding Brent Pry’s job security in Blacksburg following an 0-2 start to the season, while the Commodores now head to South Carolina next week with confidence and plenty of momentum at their backs.
