McCallan Castles spoke to the media on Wednesday. He made sure to give a shout out to a young Tennessee player who is excelling during camp, per Noah Taylor of Rivals.

Castles came to Tennessee by way of the transfer portal after spending his previous years at UC Davis. Castles will be filling the hole left by Princeton Fant, who signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent.

Out of all the young players on the Vols’ roster, the player that Castles wanted to shout out most was LB Arion Carter. Castles stated that he he’s never someone so ready to play.

“I have to shout out Arion Carter,” Castles said. “That dude fills holes fast and he is going to lace you in the hole. I’ve never seen a dude come in so ready to play from a young guy standpoint.”

Carter was a former 4-star LB out of Smyrna, Tennessee in the 2023 class. He was the No. 11 LB and No. 2 prospect in the state, per the 247Sports Composite.

It’ll be interesting to see how much playing time Carter has this season. The Vols kick off the 2023 season against Virginia on Sept. 2.

That game will start at Noon ET and be shown on ABC.
