In one of the more spectacular catches of the young season, Alabama WR DeVonta Smith somehow got his foot inbounds on a 2-yard touchdown strike near the end of the first half against Texas A&M. He walked the tight rope along the back end zone line to secure the score.
Smith helped put the Crimson Tide up 35-14 at halftime with the grab, which was his fourth of the game. He had 51 yards receiving by halftime, including a 20-yard catch. The TD was Smith’s first of the season after he had eight catches for 89 yards last week in the win at Missouri.
Texas A&M appeared to make it interesting by tying the game early in the second quarter, but the Crimson Tide rattled off three straight touchdowns, including a Pick Six from Daniel Wright, who returned the interception 47 yards. Before that, Kellen Mond had back-to-back touchdown passes in less than two minutes of game action.
The Crimson Tide bounced back on the strength of QB Mac Jones, who was 9-for-10 with 143 yards after Texas A&M tied it at 14.
Let’s see what they do in the second half.
