Washington Redskins waive former Auburn defensive standout Cassanova McKinzy
In the aftermath of the 2018 NFL Draft, some NFL teams are being forced to move players off the squad to make room for the incoming rookies. The Redskins fall into that category following the selections of former SEC players Da’ron Payne, Derrius Guice, and Shaun Dion Hamilton.
With those players plus other rookies set to join the Redskin organization, the team has announced the departure of six players. Among them is former Auburn linebacker Cassanova McKinzy.
The former undrafted free agent played four seasons on the Plains, racking up 258 tackles, 28.5 tackles-for-loss, and 8.5 sacks for the Tigers. During his NFL career, McKinzy has already spent time with Tampa Bay, the LA Rams, and Washington.

- DB James Sample
- TE Chris Bazile

- DL Montori Hughes
- DL Terrell McClain
