LSU signee Maurice Hampton is the top recruit from the state of Tennessee in the 2019 class, but the talented defensive back is also one of the best baseball players in the state.
He showed that on Monday, as his Memphis University School squad opened its 2019 campaign. Hampton stepped to the plate and belted a home run in his first at-bat of the season.
As you can see below, he has about the prettiest swing you’ll ever see from a right-handed hitter:

Per the 247Sports composite, Hampton is the No. 14 cornerback in the 2019 class and the No. 1 overall recruit from the state of Tennessee.
He’s signed with the LSU football and baseball teams, and is expected to join the football squad for workouts this summer, but the 2019 MLB Draft looms large. Will he head to LSU, or will he be drawn in by the potential to play baseball?
