A.J. Green had one potential game-winning touchdown catch get negated by a penalty earlier on the drive. But the former Georgia star got another chance to help the Cincinnati Bengals stun the Atlanta Falcons late in the game on Sunday.

Green’s 13-yard catch by sliding through the end zone with six seconds left gave the Bengals a one-point lead. And after a failed two-point conversion attempt, and last-second heave by Matt Ryan, the Bengals held on, 37-36.

Green had four catches for 78 yards and the touchdown, but it was enough to help the Bengals improve to 3-1. Green’s performance, in Atlanta, surely put some hometown fans in a difficult position knowing that many used to root for Green only a few years ago on Saturdays playing for the Georgia Bulldogs.

The finish also will revive questions about the injury-riddled Falcons defense that seemed to bottle up Green most of the day until it was too late.
