The Denver Broncos were in the headlines recently when they signed former Tennessee star LB A.J. Johnson after Johnson was acquitted by a jury in a 2015 rape investigation.

On Saturday night, Johnson saw his first NFL action, appearing in the Broncos’ preseason contest against the Chicago Bears.

As you can see in the video below, it didn’t take him very long to make an impact (literally). On a kickoff in the third quarter, Johnson made a big hit to stop the Chicago returner:

That was the only tackle Johnson made in the game, but considering he only signed with the Broncos a few days ago, it’s a good first step.

If he keeps making big hits like the one above, he’ll earn more playing time quickly. From there, it’ll be up to the Broncos to decide whether or not he deserves a spot on the 53-man roster.
