WATCH: AJ McCarron shows off power at JJ Watt’s charity softball game

Before AJ McCarron was Alabama’s starting quarterback, he was an all-state multi-sport athlete at St. Paul’s Episcopal in Mobile. This weekend he got to show off some of his non-football athletic talents.

McCarron, now a Houston Texan, took part in JJ Watt’s charity softball game held at Minute Maid Park, home of the Astros. Watt might be reluctant to invite his teammate back as McCarron came close to outperforming the host.

AL.com’s Mark Inabinnett notes that McCarron hit five home runs in the derby portion to advance to a second-round show down with Watt, who had only hit four. McCarron was only able to hit one more and Watt hit two in the final round.
