WATCH: Auburn releases footage of play Gus Malzahn described as ‘probably the best play of the scrimmage’
One of the players standing out during Auburn’s training camp is sophomore defensive back Jayvaughn Myers. With Auburn having to replace so much experience in the defensive backfield this offseason, that has to be great news to Tiger fans everywhere.
In fact, during his most recent media availability, Gus Malzahn went so far as to suggest the young defensive back made the best play of the Auburn’s recent scrimmage. While noting the offense threw three interceptions on the afternoon, none were thrown by Jarrett Stidham according to Malzahn, here’s what the Auburn coach had to say when discussing the three interceptions from the first scrimmage of the camp.
“One was a great play, the other was a really good play and the other — was not a good decision by our quarterback,” Malzahn said.
When asked if he would reveal who made the “great” play, the typically guarded Malzahn let that information out.
“Jayvaughn Myers had a great play, probably the best play of the scrimmage,” he noted.
After making those comments, Auburn’s official Twitter account thankfully shared the play made by Myers on a ball intended for Tiger receiver Anthony Schwartz. You can check it out below:
