Another Tennessee freshman has joined the ranks of the select few, as running back Tim Jordan has had his black stripe removed. Volunteer head coach Butch Jones announced the news following the team’s Monday practice.
Other freshmen to have their black stripes removed in fall camp include Theo Jackon, Shawn Shamburger and Cheyenne Labruzza.
Adding to his post-practice comments to the media, Jones made sure the fan base knew that Jordan had officially earned his place on the team by tweeting out the good news late Monday afternoon.

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Jordan was a late discovery during his recruiting process. Considering he was the lowest-ranked member of Tennessee’s 2017 recruiting class, it’s understandable if many fans don’t have high expectations for the Florida back. However, if you take a deeper dive on his recruitment, it appears Jordan may have simply fell through the cracks and received the majority of his recruiting attention late in the process.
Once a Western Kentucky commit, after being discovered by the Vols, the school had to fight North Carolina to land his signature. Now enrolled and participating in his first camp in Knoxville, Jordan has risen up the depth chart and appears poised to play a major role in the team’s offensive gameplan in 2017.
