Chad Morris is off and running as head coach of the Razorbacks, and his first early signing period with the Hogs should be considered a success.

Arkansas managed to sign seven players on Wednesday, and Morris’ work in-state is definitely of note. He has found his first QB to build around as head coach of the Razorbacks in 4-star Connor Noland out of Greenwood, Arkansas. Noland is the No. 2 player in the state for 2018.

Four of Morris’ seven signees are listed as top 10 players from Arkansas as he is definitely looking to lock down the state’s best recruits. His time in Texas also shines through as the other three recruits hail from the Lone Star State.

Here are the seven signees from Wednesday:

  • Bumper Pool, 4-star ILB, Lucas, TX
  • Connor Noland, 4-star pro-style QB, Greenwood, AR
  • Ladarrius Bishop, 3-star CB, Ashdown, AR
  • Michael Woods, 3-star WR, Magnolia, TX
  • Isaiah Nichols, 3-star SDE, Springdale, AR
  • Billy Ferrell, 3-star DT, Fordyce, AR
  • Silas Robinson, 3-star OT, Yoakum, TX

When discussing his first group of signees, Morris indicated that it is more about a player’s fit at Arkansas than any star rating. He also believes the Arkansas program is a sleeping giant that can be stirred with the right combination:

“I’ve said this many times sitting in many living rooms,” said Morris. “This is a sleeping giant, and I firmly believe with the right fit and the right combination that we’re going to wake it up.”
