LSU players and fans weren’t happy when star linebacker Devin White was ejected for a controversial targeting call during the Tigers’ game against Mississippi State on Oct. 20.

That ejection meant White was suspended for the first half of LSU’s next game. So the linebacker won’t be playing the first two quarters of Saturday’s game against Alabama.

However, Tigers coach Ed Orgeron said during his press conference on Monday that he is pleased with the way the team is responding to White’s suspension.

“Everybody’s going to pick it up, starting with me. Everybody knows that,” Orgeron told the media. “This team plays well when they’re mad. I coach better when I’m mad. I like it, it’s good, we need to be that way.”

White’s suspension was appealed, but the SEC decided not to overturn it.

It’s certainly a blow that LSU will be without one of its top defensive players for the first half of its matchup against the top ranked team in the country.

The No. 4 Tigers host the No. 1 Crimson Tide at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday.
