Not everybody is agreeing on which teams will make this year’s College Football Playoff. But one thing is for sure — Alabama is certainly making a strong impression.
ESPN analysts Joey Galloway and Jesse Palmer, both former players, ranked their top five teams after this weekend’s games, which also reveals the four teams that each thinks are in the best position to be playing for the national championship later this season.
Both Galloway and Palmer put Alabama at No. 1, with Palmer saying that the Crimson Tide “pass the eye test” and Galloway praising their efficiency so far this season.
Galloway has Clemson, Ohio State and Georgia as the other three playoff teams. Palmer has the same teams in the top three, but he put Notre Dame at No. 4 and Georgia at No. 5.
Palmer said that Georgia hasn’t been tested much this season, but that will change when it travels to LSU next Saturday.
Here are both analysts’ top five teams through Week 6:
Joey Galloway
1. Alabama
2. Clemson
3. Ohio State
4. Georgia
5. Notre Dame
Jesse Palmer
1. Alabama
2. Ohio State
3. Clemson
4. Notre Dame
5. Georgia
