When former Auburn coach Gene Chizik’s twin 20-year-old daughters went on spring break to Mexico this year, they had an unexpected tagalong — their father.
Chizik attended the trip with his daughters, keeping an eye on them as they took a break from school.
While that may seem like an odd decision for a parent, Chizik explained his thought process in the video below, shared on YouTube by AL.com:
“They wanted to go on spring break to Mexico, and I said, ‘I don’t think that’s going to happen,'” Chizik said. “They were on me and on me and on me about ‘Dad, we’re grown up, we’re grown up.’ And they are. I trust them wholeheartedly — I just don’t trust everybody else.
“Little did they know we were going to have a plane flight with them and stay at a hotel that was a mile down the road. That was part of the deal.”
While that must be mortifying for Chizik’s daughters, at least they were afforded a mile of space, and they have a more famous dad than most spring breakers.
