It is rare to see a player injured while celebrating a big play, but it is even rarer to see a coach injured in those situations.

Well, unfortunately for University of Hawaii LB coach Sean Duggan, that’s exactly what happened.

Head coach of Hawaii, Nick Rolovich, said the choice of celebration by Duggan was ill-advised.

“I’ve never seen anything like it,” said Rolovich. “You advise against chest-bumping a six-foot-seven, 300lb. Tongan. That’s just – as a new haole guy on the island, that’s just not something you make a habit of.”

You can see video of the celebration below from Hawaii News Now.

The injuries sustained by Duggan include a fractured wrist and dislocated elbow.

After reportedly dislocating his elbow and fracturing his wrist, according to sources, Hawaii football assistant coach, Sean Duggan travel with the team to UCLA for Saturday’s game in the Rose Bowl.

Hopefully Duggan will heal quickly. Maybe next time he will settle for a high-five in the celebration.
