Jimber Fisher gave the SEC a lot of credit when discussing the rivalry that has developed between the SEC and the ACC.
Fisher has landed in the SEC with Texas A&M after producing a national championship in the ACC with Florida State. While Fisher’s first chance as a head coach did come in the ACC, he first made a name for himself as an OC for LSU.
During the Belk Bowl media period, Fisher was asked about the rivalry between the SEC and the ACC. Fisher pointed out that he still believes the ACC is a strong conference despite his move to the SEC West, but he did indicate that the run of dominance by the SEC led other teams to adjust and get better.
“Just because I go to the SEC, I’m not going to switch back,” said Fisher. “That’s a tremendous conference over there, and they play great football, but I think it all came from the SEC, the stamp they put on football in that league.”
When it comes down to it, Fisher said he likes the rivalry between the conferences and thinks it is good for the sport.
