WATCH: Jimbo Fisher explains to Dan Patrick what really happened with his Christmas tree

One of the more bizarre things to happen during this coaching carousel season was the reaction to coach Jimbo Fisher’s decision to leave Florida State for Texas A&M.
As rumors were swirling, an FSU reporter took a picture of Fisher’s Christmas tree out by the curb to be picked up and wondered if that meant the coach was cleaning out his house ahead of a move.
The original tweet from Wayne McGahee III can be seen below, and as you can see, it got quite a bit of interaction:

This week, though, Fisher joined Dan Patrick’s show to set the record straight about what really was going on with his Christmas tree. Check out the story at about the 6:30 mark in the below video, shared by The Dan Patrick Show on YouTube:
“Well, what that was, I had no idea, the guys who come to put my Christmas tree up that week, said they got it out, ‘Coach, it’s broke,’” Fisher said. “What happened was, it was broke, so I put a new one up and he said ‘So we’ll get rid of the other one,’ so they set it on the curb to be picked up. That was what it was — there was a new Christmas tree in my house, it’s still in my house in Tallahassee.
“I didn’t throw it out. I was actually at work, there was a group that comes in that puts the lights and everything across the house, because you’re always on the road recruiting. We had a group, the Espositos, that comes and does it, and they called me and said ‘Jimbo this thing’s over 10 years old and it’s broke up.’”
So, that settles the case of the tossed-out Christmas tree. Sadly, it wasn’t as good of a story as it could have been, but the rumor mill will continue to churn this time next year, tracking everything from flights to Christmas tree disposals.
