For this weekend’s draftees, there’s nothing quite like hearing their name called from the podium in Dallas. While teams call the draftee ahead of submitting and announcing the pick, there’s still something like hearing it become official.
Former Auburn RB Kerryon Johnson wasn’t there at AT&T Stadium for the draft, but he still heard his name called for the No. 43 overall pick by the Detroit Lions.
Auburn’s official Twitter account shared an awesome video of Johnson’s special moment Friday night where he was surrounded by friends and family at a private watch party. As a top-50 selection, no one will fault Johnson for leaving AU early after a standout 2017 season helping the Tigers to an SEC West title.

As an added bonus, it appears one of Johnson’s dreams has come true. The SEC Network found an old tweet by Johnson that applies to Friday night.
March 18, 2013: Tweets he wishes he was a lion.
April 27, 2018: Drafted by the @Lions.

Coach Gus Malzahn also congratulated Johnson on Twitter.
Very excited for @AyeyoKEJO! One of the best to come thru Auburn. The @Lions got a great one! #AUNextLevel | #WarEagle | #NFLDraft
