Les Miles is finding out that broadcasting isn’t easy, and he’s also finding out that broadcasting can bring out the critics — just like coaching.
Saturday was Miles’ debut on FOX Sports, and he had a few hiccups. Most notably, Miles’ son, Ben, is a Nebraska fullback, and he couldn’t stop rooting for the Cornhuskers.
With Nebraska trailing 14-7, Miles said ‘we’ when referring to Nebraska. He was quickly corrected by Tim Brando, according to Awful Announcing.
“In this time of the game, we need this drive to produce points,” Miles said. Brando responded, “If you’re the Nebraska team.”
Miles then responded, “If you’re the Nebraska team, at this point in time, if you want a tighter game, you want to see the Nebraska team score.” While laughing, Brando replied, “I want everyone to know, it’s his maiden voyage in the booth, his son plays at Nebraska, he’s doing the best he can.”
Here’s the exchange:
Yeah, we’ll cut him some slack, but this whole broadcasting role will take some time getting used to for Miles.
More so, what was FOX Sports thinking letting Miles call the Nebraska game anyway?
