In hindsight, Georgia’s fake field goal attempt at LSU did not take enough Tigers by surprise. But apparently even before the play was attempted, LSU K Cole Tracy was suspicious.

Tracy may have a future in reading body language as he said this week that he noticed something was different with Georgia K Rodrigo Blankenship and holder Jake Camarda.

“As a kicker, you kind of look at things that people don’t look at,” Tracy said. “So I watched the kicker and the holder run on the field, and they were kind of looking back at each other and nodding. I thought to myself, ‘this is kind of weird, what’s going to happen.'”

It’s unclear if Tracy quickly relayed his thoughts to the coaching staff or teammates on the field, but the play was made anyway.

“Then sure enough, they ran a fake and then Grant (Delpit) made an amazing play,” Tracy said. “I remember watching it live, that’s one of the best plays I’ve ever seen.”

These thoughts are something to remember going forward for Georgia if it fakes a field goal down the stretch. Managing their body language is an area of needed improvement.

H/T to Jacques Doucet for the video.
