WATCH: LSU unveils Jerry Stovall’s retired number at halftime
By Adam Spencer
Published:
Jerry Stovall was the guy who followed Billy Cannon as the LSU running back, but he did so much more for the Tigers.
Stovall, a Louisiana native, also served as a defensive back, punter and returner during his career at LSU, during which he won the SEC’s Player of the Year award in 1962.
At halftime of Saturday’s game against Georgia, Stovall was inducted into the team’s ring of honor, with his No. 21 being retired next to Cannon’s No. 20, as you can see in the video below:

Stovall also served as LSU’s coach from 1980 to 1983, putting up a record of 22-21-2 with a loss in the 1982 Orange Bowl.
No Tiger will ever wear No. 21 again, and it is a well-deserved honor for the legendary athlete.
