WATCH: LSU WR Derrick Dillon ejected following controversial targeting call
By Paul Harvey
Published:
The LSU Tigers will be without one of their receivers for the rest of the game against Florida.
WR Derrick Dillon was disqualified due to targeting for a block he made in the first quarter. It is a tough break for LSU as the Tigers are still trying to find their groove coming off of a loss to Troy at home.
It does appear that Dillon did make contact to the head and neck area of the defender. Targeting may have been the right call, but it is an extremely close call and bad break for the Tigers.
Here is one look at the block that was flagged for targeting from Dr. Saturday on Twitter:

Here is video of a different angle shared by an LSU fan:
@DanielsonCBS that is not targeting. And take that block out? Do you want people to just quit blocking so nobody gets hurt #ITSFOOTBALL pic.twitter.com/uKRSdwCiWC

LSU has taken a 7-0 lead, but maintaining that lead will be tough without one of its key offensive weapons. Dillon has 15 total touches 118 yards in five games this season. Dillon had already ripped of a 30-yard run against Florida before his disqualification.
