One of the strongest links between Steve Spurrier’s outstanding run at South Carolina and the current regime under Will Muschamp is Gamecock legend Marcus Lattimore. The former SC running back is now back in Columbia, serving as the team’s director of player development in Muschamp’s program.

Lattimore is in a unique position, as he was witness to the building of Spurrier’s program and now gets to watch first-hand at Muschamp’s attempt to do the same. The Gamecocks are clearly trending in the right direction under Muschamp — coming off a 9-4 overall record and a 5-3 SEC record — and now get the added boost of having a director of player development that not only understands Gamecock football better than most but has an understanding of the high school football in the state after growing up in the Palmetto State.

In a recent interview with Mike Gillespie, sports director of ABC Columbia, Lattimore details his journey at South Carolina and in the NFL, as well as what his new position entails in Columbia for the Gamecocks.

Gillespie shared an outtake from the feature on Twitter that’s pretty great. Here’s Lattimore doing his Spurrier impression, in which the Head Ball Coach expresses his disgust with former Gamecock quarterback Stephen Garcia.
