Coming off a 72-43 win over Missouri State, there are extreme positives and negatives for the Missouri Tigers. The offense set records, and the defense was alarming.

As the Tigers prepare to play South Carolina on Saturday, the SEC Network crew is in town to preview the matchup. That included analyst Marcus Spears, who spoke with Dave Matter of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on Friday. Spears said a lot of the problems were self-inflicted, including a host of missed tackles. Spears also noted that Missouri gave up three plays of more than 60 yards.

“That’s probably a defensive coach’s biggest nightmare when a guy’s not getting a guy to the ground,” Spears said.

On offense, Spears said opposing coaches preparing for the Missouri offense sometimes have two huddles in practice to simulate the speed.

“It’s just a lot of things you’ve got to do to get prepared,” Spears said. “Your substitutions got to be on point.”

The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Saturday and be broadcast on ESPN2.
