WATCH: Mark Stoops struggles to come up with words to describe ending the 31-year losing streak to Florida
The streak is finally dead — Kentucky has finally beaten annual opponent Florida.
All streaks must come to an end and the Gators’ 31-year winning streak over the Wildcats did just that in the Swamp on Saturday night as Kentucky won the game 27-16.
Following the game, Mark Stoops was asked to share his feeling on finally beating the Gators, his first win over the program in six tries.
“It’s hard to describe, it’s been a long time coming. We’ve played them very well since I’ve been here. It’s been very, very frustrating to not be happy for our players, they’ve shown unbelievable character — they have been a joy to work with. For our fan base — this win — they’ve been waiting a long time for this one. Sometimes it’s a little undue to our players, inheriting the 31 games. It puts a little extra stress on you but they handled it super well.”
