This onside kick attempt by the Hurricanes was a complete disaster.
Miami is up to No. 11 in the AP Poll, but the Hurricanes are locked in a hard-fought contest with Georgia Tech. The triple-option is giving Miami’s defense fits as the Yellow Jackets try and control time of possession, but it was the special teams of the Hurricanes that produced this dud.
The onside kick did not appear to travel far enough for a Miami player to recover it, but that was hardly the worst part. The Yellow Jackets scooped up the kick and ran it back for an easy touchdown to open the second half.
The touchdown gave Tech a 21-13 lead, and the Hurricanes will need to play better if they hope to remain undefeated.
