Tua Tagovailoa has had some impressive performances this season, and Saturday was another one of them.

The Alabama quarterback threw five touchdowns in the Crimson Tide’s 52-21 win over Auburn in the Iron Bowl. Tagovailoa passed for 324 yards and also had a rushing touchdown.

After the victory, Alabama coach Nick Saban praised Tagovailoa, who is one of the top candidates to win the Heisman Trophy this year.

“You don’t get to win a Heisman Trophy, you don’t get recognized as being the best performer in anything if you don’t have the right stuff,” Saban said during his postgame press conference. “He’s motivated to be the best player that he can be. … He’s always working to try to get better.”

Saban had several injury updates while talking with the media:

  • Defensive end Isaiah Buggs has a hyperextended knee but “will be OK,” according to Saban.
  • Wide receiver Jaylen Waddle is fine after taking a big hit, as he also came back into the game.
