WATCH: Phoning it in? Announcer appears to not be watching game he is calling

Sometimes it’s hard to see the game well from the press box.
That was clearly evidenced on Saturday during the Eastern Michigan vs. Toledo game, as the color commentator totally botched the result of a field goal.
On television, the field goal clearly sailed distinctly wide right. The play-by-play guy understood that. The color guy, though, seemed to think the ball hit the crossbar and then went in.
He couldn’t have been further off. The play-by-play man had to be rattled by what his partner was saying. Either he had a really bad angle when watching the field goal, or he had his eyes on another game.
There’s really no other way to explain what he said.
Then, to top it off, the color commentator went ahead and took it to break with an “Eastern Michigan answers!”
