WATCH: After promising his mom a birthday TD ball, Joshua Dobbs completes 58-yard bomb to Justin Hunter
Pittsburgh rookie quarterback Joshua Dobbs has been working hard this preseason to rise up the Steelers’ depth chart in hopes of being named the team’s backup to Ben Roethlisberger. While he’s obviously working hard to earn his place on an NFL roster, Dobbs isn’t solely focused on his job, at least not on his mother’s birthday.
Leading up to Pittsburgh’s latest preseason game Thursday night against Carolina, Dobbs promised his mother a touchdown ball heading into the game.

Dobbs accomplished that goal rather quickly with this beautiful 58-yard bomb to fellow former Volunteer Justin Hunter. During his Tennessee career, Dobbs progressively improved his deep ball accuracy and appears to have carried over that trait to the NFL early into his pro career:
