Though things didn’t exactly go according to plan for the Purdue Boilermakers in a disappointing loss to Rutgers on Saturday afternoon, one play still provided plenty of entertainment.

Flea-flickers are some of the most creative and surprising plays in football, but the Boilermakers put a unique spin on it during the loss to the Scarlet Knights.

As you can see in the video below, the Purdue running back fakes a flea-flicker before keeping the ball and sprinting through the Rutgers defense for a huge gain:

Rutgers is currently tied with Michigan for fourth place in the Big Ten, which no one would have predicted heading into the season.

However, Purdue was supposed to be turning things around, too, so Saturday’s road loss was certainly a setback for coach Jeff Brohm’s squad.

Still, the fake flea-flicker was exciting, so hopefully Brohm and the Boilermakers continue to dial up creative plays moving forward.
