The latest “Field Level” video from the University of Tennessee features the program’s new special teams coordinator and safeties coach Charles Kelly.

Yet another example of Jeremy Pruitt surrounding himself with coaches he knows well and has worked with in the past, Kelly took over the Florida State defensive coordinator position when Pruitt left Tallahassee for Georgia back in 2014. When you consider Pruitt’s expertise in coaching defensive backs, you have to think Kelly holds a very high regard in the Tennessee coach’s mind considering he trusted him enough to name him safeties coach in Knoxville.

During his college coaching career, Kelly has coached several defensive backs to All-American honors, including Tarvarus McFadden, Derwin James, Jalen Ramsey, P.J. Williams and Morgan Burnett. Now he’s tasked with doing the same on Rocky Top with Nigel Warrior and Micah Abernathy.

Kelly also has a strong track record of coaching special teams, as he served as Florida State’s SPT coordinator during the program’s latest national championship run. He also coached kicker Roberto Aguayo the year he won the Lou Groza Award, given annually to the nation’s top kicker.

To get to know Coach Kelly a little better, here’s Tennessee’s latest “Field Level” video:
