In the transition to Jeremy Pruitt’s defensive system, Tennessee desperately needs to find a nose tackle to anchor the scheme.

With Kahlil McKenzie making the decision to leave school early for the NFL, there is no obvious answer on the roster this spring to step up and fill that void. One player that is likely to be among the first candidates to be given a chance to fill the role is redshirt freshman Eric Crosby.

The 6-foot-1, 330-pound lineman was rated as a four-star prospect coming out of high school in 2017 but needed additional time before he was ready to see the field for the Vols. We’ll find out this spring if he’s had long enough to adjust to the college game and just how ready he is to compete for a significant role in the defense moving forward.

While Tennessee still has a few weeks before the team hits the practice field, judging by the latest Tennessee promotional video, Crosby appears to be taking his preparation seriously heading into his first spring session on Rocky Top. Check out this video of Crosby squatting 535 pounds.
