In the latest of what has become a weekly feature produced by South Carolina, Will Muschamp jumps into the film room to study the tape of Missouri heading into this weekend’s game against the Tigers.

South Carolina enters the game with a 2-2 record on the season, 1-2 in the SEC, while Missouri is 3-1, 0-1 in the SEC, and is coming off a bye week.

During this week’s episode, the Gamecock coach notes several things that interest him regarding Missouri’s offense:

  • option routes of the offense (“They really like working the option routes.”); the multiplicity of the tight ends in their scheme and the speed of receiver Emmanuel Hall (“When they get middle field coverage, they really like hitting it with Hall, No. 84. He’s a big-time vertical speed guy. He’s pulling grass out of the dirt right there.”); the protection the offensive line gives Drew Lock (“a very experienced quarterback”) and of course the arm strength of the Mizzou signal caller.

Here’s one thing that stands out to Muschamp about Missouri’s defense:

  • “In the passing game, they have been a primarily, what we call a Tampa 2 defense,” and the improved play of the team’s linebackers this season.
