The Florida Gators’ 2014 season was suspended one week thanks to numerous lightning delays and rainstorms, causing nearly four hours of delays and eventually the cancellation of their game against Idaho.
This week, the Gators are set to take on Eastern Michigan at 4 p.m. in The Swamp, but according to WRUF, the current weather forecast doesn’t look good around the 4 p.m. kickoff.

Lightning will again be something to watch today in Gainesville. Last week, there were 1,100 lightning strikes that were reported within an eight-mile radius of the stadium. With a 60 percent chance of lightning at 4 p.m., it’ll be interesting to see if lightning “strikes twice” on the Gators’ season-opener.
At this point, it’s looking like the weather should calm down as it gets later into the afternoon and evening, but the possibility of another weather delay in The Swamp looks like a realistic possibility.
