College football’s regular season came to a close with Rivalry Week, and with much still to be decided before the College Football Playoffs commence, there are a myriad of polls and projections that could lend some hint as to what the 12-team field will look like.
Sunday morning’s Coaches Poll provided one of the first glimpses at an updated ranking, with 8 SEC teams cracking the Top 25 and the league making up half of the top 10.
1. Ohio State
2. Indiana
3. Georgia
4. Oregon
5. Ole Miss
6. Texas Tech
7. Texas A&M
8. Oklahoma
9. Notre Dame
10. Alabama
11. BYU
12. Vanderbilt
13. Miami
14. Texas
15. Utah
16. Virginia
17. USC
18. Michigan
19. James Madison
20. North Texas
21. Tulane
22. Arizona
23. Georgia Tech
24. Tennessee
25. Navy
Notably, Georgia is now the highest ranked SEC squad at No. 3, with Texas A&M having dropped from that spot to No. 7 following its defeat at the hands of Texas.
And while this poll will have no impact on the CFP rankings, it is worth noting how the coaches ranked the proverbial ‘bubble’ teams. Utah slides in at No. 15 after being jumped by Texas, but BYU, Vanderbilt and Miami all remained ahead of the Longhorns.
