Week 4 SEC kickoff weather forecast: Expect more comfortable temperatures

We call it “fall,” but the first few weeks of the season in the SEC sure do feel like summer.

The muggy Saturdays are starting to give way to terrific weather, though. Just two of the nine games involving SEC teams in Week 4 should see temperatures in the 80s.

With cooler temperatures, the threat of afternoon thunderstorms also is dissipating — except, of course, in Florida, where it seems to rain at least once per day in some spot every day of the year.

Tennessee-Florida is the premier SEC game this week, and gets a 3:30 p.m. ET spot on CBS. It also should feature the hottest kickoff temperature, forecast at 84 degrees, as well as the only real threat of a kickoff delayed due to weather. Expect a 60 percent chance of thunderstorms near Ben Hill Griffin Stadium at kickoff time.

This week’s schedule features one guarantee, as LSU plays Syracuse inside the Carrier Dome and will not have to worry about a repeat of its Week 1 cancellation.

With seven games between 66 and 74 degrees at kickoff, it’s finally starting to feel like fall. Here’s to hoping your team produces an effort to match.
