No. 1 Auburn remains perfect in SEC play thanks to a late bucket by Wendell Green. Georgia, last-place in the SEC standings, gave Bruce Pearl’s Tigers all they could handle Saturday afternoon in Athens. Auburn won 74-72 after Green’s bucket to put the Tigers up with under 4 seconds left.

Auburn, without starting guard Zep Jasper, was led by K.D. Johnson in his return to UGA. Johnson had 20 points. Green had 19 points, while Walker Kessler scored 10. Georgia’s Kario Oquendo led all with 25 points.

Auburn led 42-30 at the half, but the Bulldogs fought back in the second period. The Tigers kept their 12-point led to the 17:27 mark (48-36). After that, Georgia went on an 11-0, cutting it to 48-47 with 15:16 remaining. From there, it was a tight game the rest of the way.

Tom Crean’s squad had a 72-70 lead in the final minute. Johnson’s layup at 38 seconds tied it up.
