Western Michigan’s defense was playing a game within the game at one point against Wisconsin. Unfortunately, it didn’t stop the Broncos from falling apart in the 4th quarter as the Badgers rallied for a 28-14 win.
Heading into Friday’s season opener, Wisconsin was a 24.5-point favorite at home, but Western Michigan had other plans. The Broncos had the Badgers on upset alert all night long, including taking a 14-13 lead early in the 4th quarter.
Luke Fickell’s group would rally, scoring 15 unanswered points to win the game and start the season off on the right foot. The first touchdown in that stretch resulted in an interesting moment on the 2-point conversion.
The Badgers attempted — and converted — a 2-point try, but one Western Michigan defender away from the play pulled off a surprising move. He leapfrogged an official.
No, seriously. With the back judge leaning down to keep an eye on the end line, the Bronco DB went up and over the official with a clean move.
It left the official bewildered for a moment, but he still managed to deliver the appropriate call. College football in all its glory!
