What does former Miami star and NFL Hall of Fame receiver Michael Irvin think about the hiring of Mark Richt?

About the same as everyone associated with the Hurricanes’ program. He loves it.

Richt, a former quarterback for Miami, was hired by the school after spending 15 seasons at Georgia, where he won two SEC titles in 2002 and 2005.

Irvin joined Colin Cowherd’s “The Herd” on Thursday to discuss his alma mater’s hiring.

Miami is 8-4 heading into its Sun Bowl matchup with Washington State. Richt will not coach the team for that contest but is expected to be in attendance.

Miami will be coached by Larry Scott, who was named interim coach after Al Golden was fired in late October. Scott has led the Hurricanes to four wins in the past five games.
