Last year, Auburn traveled to LSU, blew a 20-point lead and lost. This week, Auburn is looking to prevent a similar result at home.
Auburn will host LSU looking to improve to 3-0 on Saturday, and coach Gus Malzahn said it’s a “big week” as his Tigers open SEC play.
As for last year’s loss, Malzahn doesn’t plan on bringing it up as motivation.
“I really don’t have to say a whole lot. That was an extremely tough loss,” Malzahn told the media on Tuesday, including AL.com. “There’s really not going to be a whole lot of motivation and rah-rah stuff as far as last year.”
Malzahn knows what to expect when the two teams match up.
“It goes way back in history,” Malzahn told the media. “When LSU and Auburn get together, it’s going to be a physical game.”
No. 7 Auburn and No. 12 LSU will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.

Malzahn on last year’s LSU game: “That was a turning point. A lot of lessons learned in all phases in how we lost after being up 20-0. After that game it was uphill.” #Auburn #WarEagle

Malzahn: “You look at our schedule, it’s a man’s schedule. It’s a week to week deal. Obviously last year it was uphill after LSU loss, it would be nice to get a win this week.” #Auburn #WarEagle

Auburn HC Gus Malzahn on last year's LSU game: "There were a lot of lessons that were learned in all phases with the way we lost. Most teams would've folded up their tent. But our team didn't."
