In the SEC’s biggest game of the day, Texas A&M fell to Georgia 19-13 in Sanford Stadium.
The Aggies offense came alive late in the second half, but Georgia’s defense (and running game) proved to be the difference. Quarterback Kellen Mond finished 25-of-42 for 275 yards and one touchdown; however, Texas A&M rushed for negative one yard. That’s not a typo. Yes, the rushing number was skewed due to sacks, but it speaks to Georgia’s defense — particularly the defensive line — controlling much of the game.
It was an overall frustrating loss for the Aggies, who had a chance to get the lead in the fourth quarter, but the drive stopped short due to an incompletion (and no pass interference call).
Jimbo Fisher spoke to the media following the game, and below is a summary of the high points:
Jimbo Fisher: Typical, great SEC football game. Give UGA credit…they are a really good football team. Our guys played hard. Things started looking up in the passing game in the 2nd half. They hit some deep balls. Hard-fought game. We showed a lot of guts.

Fisher: [Mond] played great. They do a lot of exotic things. He did a great job. He's growing and is becoming one heck of a football player and leader.

Fisher: Self-inflicted wounds … we have to get it fixed. The delays … I thought he got the first one off. The second one after the kick, [Mond] took his eyes off the clock. That was just a mistake.
