Kirby Smart and Georgia picked up a gutsy win over Missouri Saturday evening.
The Tigers were knocking on the door late, but a pair of clutch interceptions sealed the deal for Georgia and its untarnished record stayed perfect. The Bulldogs are one game through a tough 3-game stretch. Next week, they will take on Ole Miss before facing Tennessee.
Missouri found plenty of success on offense, and Smart credited the Tigers’ tempo for the way they were able to throw Georgia off.
“Tempo. They didn’t do anything they didn’t do all year,” Smart said in his postgame press conference. “They didn’t scheme us up. They whipped our ass.”
Georgia went to the half tied with Missouri after just running out the clock to end the half. While fans in Sanford Stadium booed, Smart explained that he had to make the best decision for his team.
“I gotta make decisions that win games, not win spreads,” he said.
Smart called the win “resilient.” The Bulldogs didn’t play their best game of the season, but they managed to find a way to win.

Smart also continued his praise for Carson Beck, who is learning as he goes as Georgia’s starter. On Saturday, he had 254 yards and a pair of passing touchdowns.
“I’ve always had a lot of confidence in Carson,” Smart said.
Nazir Stackhouse was the player who helped seal the deal for Georgia. The defensive lineman had an interception that he took almost to the house. According to the UGA Staff, he clocked in at around 17 miles per hour. Smart gave his thoughts on that speed after the game.
When Kirby Smart was asked about Stackhouse’s claim he responded,
“No chance. He could maybe hit 18 mph on a bike or in a car.” ??? https://t.co/YerTyIwzJz
