Alabama was in control for much of the first half in the latest Iron Bowl but Auburn blocked a punt and used a trick play to quickly score to close the gap significantly in the game of annual SEC West rivals. The Crimson Tide went into the halftime break up 17-14 but Nick Saban wasn’t exactly pleased with the events leading up to the break.
Here is what Coach Saban had to say about Auburn’s late rally to CBS before entering the locker room for halftime of the game.
“Well, it was a double pass, we didn’t cover the guy that did a double pass,” Saban said. “I kinda knew it was coming because a guy lined up deep in the backfield but we gave up a blocked punt, gave them good field position. Plays like that can make a huge difference.”
The Alabama coach also offered up these comments on his offense’s performance.
“We aren’t making explosive plays, they are doing a good job of taking those away,” Saban continued. “We have to be patient, we have to have some balance because we are going to have to throw the ball better than we did in the first half.”
