It was another crazy weekend in the SEC as Florida took care of Georgia, and Tennessee took perhaps the most surprising loss in the SEC this year against South Carolina. Meanwhile, Alabama and LSU got to sit back and enjoy it all on their bye week. Let’s take a look at what national pundits are saying about last weekend’s games.
Overall opponent record:
Tennessee 41-17

Boom 182 rush yds.
Snell 192 rush yds. It’s the first time in school history 2 players have rushed over 175 yards in an SEC game. #FINISH

Mizzou has looked worse with each passing week this season, and the days of their dominant defensive lines look to be over. On the flip side, Kentucky has gotten better each week after an embarrassing loss to Southern Miss.

The last Georgia football coach to have a winning record against Florida at any point remains Ray Goff, who was 1-0 in 1989, 0-6 thereafter.
— Alligator Army (@AlligatorArmy) October 29, 2016
Florida defeated Georgia behind a physical defense and a lack of offensive execution by the Bulldogs. This win, as well as Tennessee’s loss, puts the Gators as a near lock to win the SEC East. However, as the Gators continue to climb, the hardest part of their schedule is just around the corner.
Samford at Mississippi State
Samford QB Devlin Hodges threw for 278 yards against Mississippi State.

I don't think this is what MSU fans had in mind when they said they wanted to finish ahead of Ole Miss. #GBHTailgate #BTHOmsu pic.twitter.com/LbFIrCpdhE

Mississippi State loves its fanbase so much that they couldn’t simply bore the season ticket-holders with easy wins over cupcakes. The South Alabama and Samford games have been some of the wildest of the season for the Bulldogs – a win by USA in Week 1, and Samford quarterback Devlin Hodges finishing with 468 yards on Saturday.
Auburn at Ole Miss
No team in the SEC gets more out of one guy than Ole Miss gets out of Chad Kelly.

Ole Miss' rush defense is more of a theory than an actual thing.

Auburn ran all over Ole Miss, who are quickly turning into the New Orleans Saints of the SEC: a great quarterback, and not much else. When the No. 1 pass offense and No. 1 rush offense met on Saturday night, fans knew it would be crazy. The smart money was on streaking Auburn, who got it done on the road.
Tennessee at South Carolina
Butch Jones is 7-17 against SEC teams not named Vanderbilt or Kentucky.

This would be Muschamp's biggest win for Florida in his career.

Jalen Hurd leaving Tennessee midseason is probably the most abrupt/surprising transfer I can recall.
— Matt Hinton (@MattRHinton) October 31, 2016
Coach Boom is .500 at South Carolina with a scrap-iron roster. Coach Butch has three losses with what was supposed to be a loaded roster.
— Pat Forde (@ByPatForde) October 30, 2016
South Carolina's Jake Bentley at QB + RB Rico Dowdle + WR Bryan Edwards = one of nation's best true freshman trios. Muschamp knows talent
— Barton Simmons (@bartonsimmons) October 31, 2016
Maybe Will Muschamp actually is a good coach, and all the talent at Florida was holding him back. Well, the Gamecocks sure played like they had the better quarterback on Saturday, if not also the better coach. South Carolina, now 4-4, looks to make a bowl game as it enters the final stretch of its schedule.
New Mexico State at Texas A&M
“Texas A&M is now the premiere football program in the state of Texas.” It was said on an ESPN network, just so it’s documented.
— TexAgs (@TexAgs) October 30, 2016
First time in Texas A&M history the same player (Christian Kirk) has returned two punts for touchdowns in the same game.
— Brent Zwerneman (@BrentZwerneman) October 30, 2016
Texas A&M got a near bye week here with New Mexico State. Still, the Aggies took care of business and stayed comfortably in the top 10.
